About the Artist
Carolyn Molder

Carolyn Molder began her love of art as a child inspired by her mother who was a musician. Her art expresses the world around her. She works in watercolor, pastel and graphite.
Although a native Floridian, she has traveled extensively in the United States and several places overseas due to her husbands 30 year Naval career. She now resides in the western North Carolina mountains.
Carolyn's art was put on hold, until later in life than some, but her enthusiasm more than compensated for lost time. Although she has drawn since a child, painting began after a corporate career.
"The painting of rural landscapes and barns are to preserve the scenes for future generations", she says. Carolyn notes that, "Showing my golden retrievers in AKC Dog Shows taught me great deal about canine anatomy." Her goal is to capture the special expressive personality of each animal. Carolyn's floral paintings, especially the beautiful azaleas and rhododendrons, have such light and transparency, and is the perfect subject for watercolor.
Her art has been accepted by a number of juried shows; The Georgia Watercolor Society; Alabama Pastel Society, Appalachian Pastel Society, Southeastern Pastel Society. Her 2007 entry in the Alabama Pastel Society Show won the Art Spectrum Merit Award and, her 2008 entry received a Terry Ludwig Award which earned her Signature status.
In 2010 Carolyn was awarded Signature Status by the Georgia Watercolor Society. Her painting "Azalea Light" was selected for display in the offices of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Georgia. In 2011, "Beaver Creek Marsh" won the Jack Richeson Merit Award at Alabama Pastel Society. Also in 2011, "Holstein Calf" was purchased to hang in the Virginia State Veterinary Office.
She teaches pastel at the John C Campbell Folk School in Brasstown NC, Mountain Arts in Blue Ridge GA, and Gilmer Arts & Heritage in Ellijay GA. Carolyn also teaches in her studio.
